Affiliate Disclosure
We believe you have the right to know exactly how SoftwareAdvisorHub makes money — and precisely how that does and does not affect the reviews and recommendations you read here.
SoftwareAdvisorHub earns affiliate commissions from some links on this site. This never influences our editorial scores or recommendations. Every review is based solely on independent testing.
This Affiliate Disclosure was last reviewed on April 26, 2026. We update it whenever our affiliate practices change.

What Is Affiliate Marketing?
Affiliate marketing is a performance-based revenue model in which a publisher (us) earns a referral commission when a reader clicks a specially tagged link on our site and subsequently makes a qualifying purchase from the linked company (the vendor).
It is one of the most widely used revenue models in digital publishing and is used by major review sites, news publications, and consumer guides worldwide. The key principle is simple: if we send a vendor a customer who buys, the vendor pays us a finder's fee.
No cost to you
Affiliate commissions are paid entirely by the software vendor from their own marketing budget. You pay the same price whether you click our link or go directly to the vendor's website. In some cases, our affiliate relationships allow us to negotiate exclusive discounts that are only available through our links.
How We Earn Commissions
SoftwareAdvisorHub earns affiliate commissions through the following mechanisms. Not every link on our site is an affiliate link — we link to many resources, sources, and references with no commercial relationship.
| Commission Type | How It Works | Your Cost? |
|---|---|---|
| Subscription referral | You click our link and purchase a paid subscription to a SaaS product within the cookie window (typically 30–90 days) | None |
| Free trial conversion | You start a free trial via our link and later convert to a paid plan within the attribution window | None |
| Coupon / deal redemption | You use a discount code or deal link from our deals pages and complete a qualifying purchase | None — often cheaper |
| Lead generation (CPA) | For some enterprise products, we earn a commission when a reader submits a contact request or demo enquiry | None |
| Flat-fee partnerships | Occasionally we enter into flat-rate referral arrangements with specific vendors. These are disclosed individually on the relevant pages. | None |
Commission Rates
Affiliate commission rates in the SaaS industry typically range from 20% to 50% of the first month's subscription fee, or a flat fee per referred customer. We do not publicly disclose specific commission rates for individual vendors, as these are governed by confidential affiliate agreements. However, the existence of any affiliate relationship is always disclosed.
Commission rates never affect our scores
A tool offering a 50% commission receives exactly the same editorial treatment as a tool offering 10% — or no commission at all. Our review scores are assigned by our editorial team before any affiliate parameters are considered. The commercial team never interacts with the editorial scoring process.
Our Editorial Firewall
The single most important principle at SoftwareAdvisorHub is that our commercial revenue model must never compromise the integrity of our editorial content. We maintain a strict separation between our editorial and commercial operations.
How the Firewall Works in Practice
- Review scores are determined solely by our testing criteria and methodology — the commercial team has no input into scoring decisions.
- Affiliate links are added to review pages after the editorial content is finalised — never before.
- Our editorial team does not know the commission rate for a tool when assigning its score.
- Vendors cannot request changes to review scores or content as a condition of maintaining an affiliate relationship.
- If a vendor terminates an affiliate relationship with us, we continue to publish and maintain our review of their product.
- Negative reviews are never removed or softened due to commercial pressure. A poor-performing tool gets a poor score, regardless of its affiliate commission.
Tested for 30 days before any commercial consideration
Our review process begins with purchase of a standard retail subscription — not a vendor-provided demo or sponsored account. The full 30-day testing period is completed and the score is assigned before we even check whether an affiliate program exists for that tool.
What We Promise You
Our credibility depends entirely on your trust. These are the specific, concrete commitments we make to every reader of SoftwareAdvisorHub — commitments we intend to keep without exception.
Scores are earned, not bought
No software company can pay us to receive a higher score, a "best pick" designation, or a more favourable review. Rankings are determined by testing results only.
Disclosure on every page
Every page on this site that contains affiliate links includes a visible disclosure notice. We never hide our commercial relationships in fine print or obscure locations.
No cost to you, ever
Affiliate commissions are paid by vendors from their own marketing budget. You never pay more — and sometimes pay less — when purchasing via our links.
Bad reviews stay published
If a tool scores poorly in our testing, we publish that result — even if we have an affiliate relationship with the vendor. We will never suppress a negative review for commercial reasons.
Scores can go down
If a tool we rate highly deteriorates — through price increases, feature removal, or service decline — we will revise our score downward at our next update cycle.
Methodology is public
Our full review scoring rubric, testing criteria, and weighting system are published and accessible to any reader. We operate transparently so you can evaluate our work.
Separating Reality from Misconception
There are legitimate concerns about affiliate-based review sites. We take those concerns seriously. Here we address the most common questions directly.
Affiliate links fund independent research
Revenue from affiliate commissions pays for software subscriptions, testing time, editorial salaries, and site infrastructure — enabling us to operate without charging readers or accepting advertising.
"High commission = high score"
Commission rates have zero relationship to our editorial scores. Tools with high commissions receive poor scores when they perform poorly. Tools with no affiliate program have received our highest scores.
We recommend the best tool for the job
When a tool without an affiliate program is genuinely the best option for a specific use case, we say so — and we link to it, even though we earn nothing from that recommendation.
"They only recommend tools they're paid for"
A meaningful portion of our review pages recommend tools without affiliate links as the top choice. Credibility with readers is our most valuable long-term asset — more valuable than any individual commission.
Vendors can't buy their way to a better review
We have declined vendor requests to soften negative reviews, improve scores without retesting, or fast-track reviews in exchange for higher commission rates. Our editorial decisions are not for sale.
"Vendors can pay for better coverage"
Vendors can submit tools for review through our standard process. They cannot influence the outcome, the score, the tone, or the timing of any review — regardless of commercial relationship.
How to Identify Affiliate Links
We make it straightforward to identify which links on our site are affiliate links and which are not. We use the following approach across the site:
| Link Type | Example | Disclosure | Affiliate? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Primary vendor CTA button | "Visit Semrush", "Try Free" | Page-level disclosure banner | Yes |
| Comparison table vendor links | Links in "Best For" comparison grids | Disclosure at top of comparison page | Yes |
| Deal / coupon links | Discount codes, "Get Deal" buttons | Explicit badge on every deal card | Yes |
| Source citations & references | Links to news articles, research papers | No disclosure needed | No |
| Non-partner vendor links | Links to tools with no affiliate program | No disclosure needed | No |
| Internal site navigation | Links to other review pages on this site | Not applicable | N/A |
rel="nofollow" and rel="sponsored" attributes
In accordance with search engine guidelines and best practices, all affiliate links on this site carry both rel="nofollow" and rel="sponsored" HTML attributes, as required by Google's link schemes guidelines and recommended by the FTC.
Our Affiliate Partner Categories
We work with affiliate programs across the software categories we cover. We do not publicly list every individual affiliate partner, as these arrangements change over time. However, we disclose the categories in which we have affiliate relationships:
| Software Category | Affiliate Relationships? | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| SEO Tools | Yes | Direct vendor programs and affiliate networks |
| Email Marketing | Yes | Direct vendor programs and affiliate networks |
| AI Writing Tools | Yes | Direct vendor programs |
| Ecommerce Platforms | Yes | Direct vendor programs and affiliate networks |
| CRM Software | Yes | Select direct vendor programs |
| Marketing Automation | Yes | Select direct vendor programs |
| IT & Security | Yes | Select direct vendor programs |
| Project Management | Partial | Some tools have no affiliate program |
| Analytics Tools | Partial | Some tools have no affiliate program |
| Enterprise / Custom Pricing | Often No | Many enterprise tools have no public affiliate program |
For specific questions about whether a given review contains affiliate links, use the contact information in Section 12.
Reviews of Non-Affiliate Products
A significant portion of our review coverage includes products for which we have no affiliate relationship. These include tools with no affiliate program, enterprise products with custom pricing, open-source software, and tools that declined to establish an affiliate relationship with us.
- Non-affiliate products receive the same testing rigour, scoring methodology, and editorial attention as affiliate products.
- Non-affiliate products are frequently recommended as our top pick in categories — including over higher-commission alternatives.
- We link to non-affiliate products' websites directly without any tracking parameters.
- The absence of an affiliate relationship with a vendor does not make our review more or less favourable.
Example: When the best tool earns us nothing
In several categories, our top-rated tool has no affiliate program. We recommend it anyway — because our readers' trust is worth more than any short-term commission. You'll find examples of this throughout our review catalogue, clearly marked where applicable.

Deals, Coupons & Exclusive Offers
SoftwareAdvisorHub maintains a dedicated deals and coupons section featuring discount codes, free trial extensions, and exclusive offers for software products. The following additional disclosure applies to these pages.
- All deals pages contain affiliate links — every discount code and "Get Deal" button on our deals pages routes through an affiliate tracking link.
- Exclusive discounts negotiated through our affiliate relationships may provide you with a lower price than the vendor's standard published rate. We flag these clearly.
- Expired deals are removed or clearly labelled as expired — we do not maintain fake "deal" pages to capture affiliate traffic for expired offers.
- Verification — we verify the validity of discount codes before publishing them and check their status on at least a weekly basis.
- Deal rankings on our deals pages are ordered by discount value and quality, not by commission rate.
AppSumo and lifetime deal pages
Our AppSumo deal pages and lifetime software deal coverage are fully affiliate-linked and disclosed. We evaluate AppSumo deals using the same editorial criteria as our standard reviews. Deals pages carry an explicit affiliate disclosure badge on every card.
