Privacy-first analyticsOur analytics are anonymised, stored in the EU, and never used for cross-site tracking or ad profiling.
Zero advertising cookiesWe don't use Google Ads, Facebook Pixel, or any advertising network cookies. You will never be retargeted based on your visit here.
Affiliate cookies are minimalWhen you click an affiliate link, a short-lived referral cookie is placed by the destination vendor — not by us — to attribute commissions.
Full control, any timeUse the preference panel in the sidebar to manage your consent. Changes take effect immediately without reloading.
GDPR & ePrivacy compliantOur cookie practices comply with GDPR, the EU ePrivacy Directive, UK PECR, and equivalent regulations worldwide.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, tablet, or mobile phone) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, improve user experience, and provide information to the site's owners.
Cookies are not programs and cannot carry viruses or malware. They cannot access other files on your device. They simply store small pieces of data that allow websites to remember information about your visit.
Types of Storage Technologies
In addition to traditional cookies, modern websites may use related technologies for similar purposes. This policy covers all of the following:
| Technology | What It Is | We Use It? |
|---|---|---|
| HTTP Cookies | Small text files stored by your browser, sent with every request to the site that set them | Yes |
| Session Storage | Temporary browser storage cleared when the browser tab closes — never persists between sessions | Limited |
| Local Storage | Browser-based persistent key-value storage; not sent to the server automatically | Limited |
| Pixel Tags / Web Beacons | Tiny transparent images that confirm page loads or email opens for analytics | No |
| Device Fingerprinting | Identifies devices by their unique characteristics without cookies | Never |
| Advertising Pixels | Third-party tracking pixels for ad retargeting (e.g. Facebook Pixel) | Never |
How We Use Cookies
SoftwareAdvisorHub uses cookies for three primary purposes: to keep the site functioning correctly, to understand how our content is used so we can improve it, and to support affiliate commission tracking. We use no cookies for advertising, profiling, or cross-site tracking.
Essential
These cookies are strictly necessary for the website to function and cannot be switched off. They are set in response to actions you take, such as setting your privacy preferences, logging in, or filling in forms.
They do not store any personally identifiable information.
Analytics
These cookies allow us to count visits and traffic sources so we can measure and improve our site's performance. All data is anonymised — we cannot identify individual users from analytics data.
If you don't allow these, we won't know when you visited and won't be able to monitor performance.
Functional
These cookies enable enhanced functionality such as remembering your preferences (e.g. dark mode, cookie consent choices) between visits. They may be set by us or by third-party providers.
Disabling them may mean some features don't work as expected.
Advertising
SoftwareAdvisorHub does not use advertising cookies of any kind. We do not deploy Google Ads, Facebook Pixel, programmatic advertising pixels, or any retargeting technology.
You will not be targeted with ads based on your visit to this site. This is a firm policy.
Cookie Categories & Legal Basis
The legal basis for each category of cookie we use is determined by applicable data protection and ePrivacy law. The following table summarises the legal basis and your rights for each category.
| Category | Legal Basis | Consent Required? | Can You Opt Out? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential / Strictly Necessary | Legitimate interest — necessary for site operation | No | No — site may break |
| Analytics / Performance | Consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) / ePrivacy) | Yes | Yes — at any time |
| Functional / Preference | Consent (GDPR Art. 6(1)(a) / ePrivacy) | Yes | Yes — at any time |
| Affiliate Tracking | Legitimate interest — commission attribution | Disclosed | Via browser settings |
| Advertising / Retargeting | N/A | Not used | Not applicable |
Consent-first approach
For all non-essential cookies, we follow a consent-first approach: these cookies are not placed until you actively accept them via our consent banner or the preference panel. Pre-ticked boxes, implied consent, and cookie walls are not used. Your consent can be withdrawn at any time with the same ease with which it was given.
Full Cookie Inventory
The following table lists every individual cookie currently in use on SoftwareAdvisorHub, including its name, purpose, duration, and category. This list is reviewed and updated whenever our cookie usage changes.

Third-Party Cookies
In addition to our own cookies, certain third-party services we use may place cookies on your device. These are governed by the privacy and cookie policies of the respective third parties, not this policy.

|---|---|---|---|
| Analytics provider (EU-hosted) | Anonymised site usage analytics | Analytics | Reviewed and approved for GDPR compliance |

| Newsletter platform | Email preference tracking for subscribers only | Functional | Applies only if you are a newsletter subscriber |
We vet all third-party providers
Before integrating any third-party service, we review their cookie usage, data processing agreements, and GDPR compliance. We do not integrate services that use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking. All third-party processors are bound by Data Processing Agreements.
Cookies We Don't Use
We believe it's just as important to be explicit about what we don't do as what we do. The following tracking technologies are never used on SoftwareAdvisorHub:
- Google Ads / DoubleClick: We do not run Google Ads or use Google's advertising cookies on this site.
- Facebook / Meta Pixel: We do not use Meta's pixel for retargeting, lookalike audiences, or conversion tracking.
- Twitter / X Pixel: Not installed or used on this site.
- LinkedIn Insight Tag: Not installed or used on this site.
- TikTok Pixel: Not installed or used on this site.
- Programmatic ad networks: We do not use any display advertising, DSP, or programmatic ad network cookies.
- Heatmap / session recording tools: We do not record individual sessions or use heatmap tools that capture user behaviour at an individual level.
- Device fingerprinting: We do not use any technique that identifies your device without cookies.
- Cross-site tracking: We do not share cookie data with other websites, advertisers, or data brokers.
No advertising cookies — ever
This is a firm, standing policy at SoftwareAdvisorHub. We fund our operations through affiliate commissions, not advertising. We have no commercial incentive to track you across the web, and we never will. If this ever changes, we will notify all readers with at least 30 days' notice before any advertising cookies are placed.
Managing Your Cookie Preferences
You have full control over non-essential cookies at all times. You can manage your preferences using any of the following methods:
7.1 Our Cookie Preference Panel
The interactive preference panel in the sidebar of this page allows you to toggle individual cookie categories on or off. Changes take effect immediately. Your selections are saved in an essential cookie (sah_consent) for 12 months so you are not asked again on every visit.
7.2 Cookie Consent Banner
When you first visit SoftwareAdvisorHub, a consent banner is displayed. You can accept all optional cookies, reject all optional cookies, or customise your preferences through the banner. You can revisit this choice at any time via the "Cookie Settings" link in our site footer.
7.3 Withdrawing Consent
You may withdraw consent for non-essential cookies at any time without any penalty. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal. To withdraw consent, use the preference panel above or clear your browser cookies.
Disabling essential cookies
Essential cookies cannot be disabled through our preference panel as they are required for the site to function. If you block essential cookies through your browser settings, some parts of the site — including the cookie consent mechanism itself — may not work correctly.
Browser-Level Cookie Controls
All modern browsers allow you to manage cookies through their settings. You can block specific cookies, delete existing cookies, or set your browser to notify you when cookies are being set. The following links provide guidance for the most commonly used browsers:

Cookie Consent & Legal Basis
9.1 EU & UK Consent Standard
For users in the European Economic Area (EEA) and United Kingdom, our consent practices comply with the GDPR and ePrivacy Directive (EU Cookie Law) requirements. Valid consent under these frameworks must be:
- Freely given — not conditioned on accepting all cookies as a requirement to use the site
- Specific — given separately for each category of non-essential cookies, not as a blanket "accept all"
- Informed — provided after clear information about which cookies are used and for what purpose
- Unambiguous — indicated by a clear affirmative action, not inferred from inaction or pre-ticked boxes
- Withdrawable — able to be revoked at any time with the same ease as it was given
9.2 Consent Record
When you provide or withdraw consent, we record the following in an anonymised consent log: the date and time of the consent action, the categories of cookies accepted or rejected, and the version of this Cookie Policy in force at the time. This record is retained for audit purposes for 12 months. No personal data is stored in the consent log.
